A good story on Forbes.com, about Sprint Nextel’s production efforts for its mobile video and TV service…the production facilities are being driven out of New York City, in conjunction with partner IMG Media, a unit of the giant IMG sports agency. Sprint shoots about 150 minutes of content a week, featuring a roster of news-oriented entertainment and sports programming, for its Power View mobile network.
The company has invested “several million dollars” in the venture, according to Alana Muller, director of wireless data marketing for Sprint. It has signed a one-year deal with IMG. Heading up the operation is Marc Forest, an IMG Media VP and a former TV producer for Clear Channel. In August, Forest and his staff of about 40 moved into a nondescript-looking 10,000-square-foot building a few blocks west of Madison Square Garden. They had about a month to get production rolling.
So far, Sprint has only one advertiser: Adidas subsidiary Reebok.
