CNN-IBN Plans IPO, More Citizen Journalism Initiatives

Business Standard reports that CNN-IBN has planned a Rs.105 crore IPO, probably in January, with Rs.5 crore reserved for employees. Rs.40 crores of the money raised will be used to complete the acquisition of Channel 7 (now IBN7) from the Jagaran Group.
TV-18 and its promoters own 67 percent of CNN-IBN, 23 percent is owned by Global Broadcasting News, while IL&FS owns the remaining 10 percent. The channel was launched a little over a year ago, and had introduced citizen journalism initiatives.
