Industry Moves: Verizon: Strigl Upped To President & COO; Stratton To CMO; McAdam, New Wiress CEO

Denny Strigl gets some recognition for the force that Verizon Wireless has become with his promotion to president and COO of Verizon Communications effective January 1. It’s part of a restructuring that follows Larry Babbio’s announcement earlier this month that he would take early retirement as vice chairman and president at the end of 1Q07. He’ll report to Chairman and CEO Ivan Seidenberg; Strigl “will provide a single point of accountability for all business units.” Among his new repsonbuilities: ensuring the success of FiOS. His successor at Verizon Wireless is Lowell McAdam, promoted to CEO from EVP and COO. John Stratton takes a big jump from VP and CMO for wireless to the new position of EVP and CMO responsbile for marketing and brand initiatives across Verizon’s business units. Shaygan Kheradpir moves from CIO, Verizon Telecom, to the new position of corporate CIO. Release.
