The Hindu Business Line reports that Toonz Animation India is looking to invest $5 mil in developing its gaming division over the next three years, as well as spend $30-40 mil on acquisitions. The gaming division is expected to begin functioning by April 1st 2007, with a 50 member team. Toonz has signed an agreement with Paramount Home Entertainment for three films, including Dragonlance.
That’s a rather late entry into the gaming space, isn’t it? Then again, they’ll probably be looking to become a one-stop-shop for gaming and animation needs, and leverage their animation contracts to get the gaming business as well.
