Paymate Signs Up Restaurant; Reliance World Enables Electricity Bill Payments, Movie Ticketing

Some M-Commerce Updates:

– ‘Seijo and the Soul Dish’ is offering its customers a mobile payment option via Paymate. Ajay Adiseshann, Founder & MD, Paymate says that they will be announcing more such m-payment partnerships in the coming weeks. The Paymate service is being offered to Citibank credit card holders, and last I heard, tie-ups with more banks were on the agenda. I wonder when that will happen.
– Convergence of a different kind – the ADA Group owns both Reliance Communications and Reliance Energy, and the two sister concerns have tied up to allow users in Mumbai to pay their electricity bill via Reliance Mobile World. The payment can be made using ITZ cash card. I think they’ll have to expand their services – Reliance Energy has around 2.5 customers in Mumbai. Now how many of those are Reliance Mobile customers and also use the ITZ cash card service? They’ll eventually have to include credit card payment.
– Reliance Mobile World has also added mobile movie ticketing for Fame Cinemas, PVR and (ADAG owned) Adlabs. In this case, the payment is by credit card. The movie ticketing is available for 57 screens in Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Bangalore. Inox and Cinemax will also be signing up, and also 10 more screens will be added by Jan end.
