Fifteen companies and organizations have teamed up to launch the Internet and Mobile Marketing Association of the Philippines (Immap), intended to provide guidelines for mobile and online marketers to prevent spamming (and subsequent government legislation), as well as to promote legitimate mobile and online advertsing. The interesting fact that leapt out at me is that in the Philippines mobile advertising is bigger than online advertising…I haven’t seen that anywhere else. It’s still tiny, “last year, it was estimated that online advertising spending only totaled P100 million, a measly 0.2 percent of the total”.
