UK’s Channel 4 has begun simulcasting its shows on BT’s Movio DAB mobile TV service, which effectively means Virgin Mobile at the moment.
Channel 4 had previously run Short Cuts, which was a digest of program highlights, but “consumers gave us a clear message during the BT Movio pilot that they want full, live TV channels they’re familiar with at home on their mobile, rather than watered down highlights,” according to Emma Lloyd, MD of BT Movio. The new content will include full versions of Hollyoaks, Countdown and Deal Or No Deal, but some film, sport and US-produced content won’t be shown because C4 can’t get the mobile rights.
