Another in a series of steps by the Chinese government to harness the internet … this time, it’s online gaming as the government requires distributors to monitor content more closely. AP picks up the official Xinhua News Agency report, which says the move follows “a rash of problems with imported online games, some of which contain sensitive religious material or refer to territorial disputes.” China’s growing online gaming audience — 23 million players with estimated revenues of $850 million — is attractive to outside investors but this is another example of how tenuous the Chinese market can be.
