Tata Indicom Gears Up For Mobile Advertising

Indian operator Tata Indicom has announced a mobile advertising initiative. “Dynamic advertisements on Tata Zone applications will appear in the form of graphical banners with several options to initiate a “call to action”. When a mobile user clicks on an ad, the user may engage in a phone call with the brand, trigger a return interactive voice response (IVR) call, download mobile content, send an SMS, or participate in interactive voting.”
To start with Tata will offer the solution on its soon-to-be-released Digital Music Download service before extending it to other applications on its content portal, Tata Zone. There’s no mention that the advertising will offset the cost of mobile content, but considering it’s just banner ads rather than a more intrusive form of marketing that’s not surprising. Mast Mobile Media is providing the technology.
