Digital media and communications solutions firms Arbinet has acquired UK-based DRM firm Flowphonics, to extend the scope of its communications trading marketplace services and create an electronic marketplace for global IP rights licensing. The financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
Glasgow-based Flowphonics develops DRM platforms and online exchanges for digital music and video content. The system is being used by iTunes, Rhapsody and Napster, the companies say.

Scotsman: The Rightsrouter technology was spun out of new media company Musicindie in 2004 with support from Incubix, a Swiss investment firm, and Scottish Development International. Flowphonics was set up in Glasgow in January.
