This is one move an army of online DVD rental companies that have come up in India recently have to worry about. Nimbus Communications, the broadcasting, advertising and sports rights management company, is looking at an entry into DVD rental business, reports The Economic Times. Nimbus is believed to be evaluating various business models – one of them being the US-based DVD rental chain Blockbuster‘s which has an in-store and online business model.
The report further says that Nimbus is in talks with “several geographically-focused standalone mom-and-pop DVD rental libraries” for a tie-up that would give Nimbus a large network.
Nimbus is also believed to be setting up video entertainment lounges that will integrate video rental with the video on demand.
