@ Media Week: UBS Day 4: Jim Buckmaster, CEO, Craigslist: Video Upload Feature Will Depend On Users

Completely secure about leaving loads of money on the table, Craigslist was almost like a mirage in a week of discussions about cost cutting, growing already-hefty margins and the like. The folks at Craigslist have some very basic philosophies about running a business starting with this: it’s all about the user. (eBay, which owns 25 percent, goes along.) Will Craigslist add video upload support? CEO Jim Buckmaster told the die-hard analysts and investors at UBS fror the last day that doesn’t have video uploads but may if it becomes more important to the user. On a more wry note, asked why Craigslist doesn’t employ text ads, Buckmaster replied: “No users are suggesting we run text ads.” Yes, the amount of revenue could be “staggering” but it’s not the way Craigslist works.
I had to miss some of the session but AP’s Jessica Mintz has it all.
