Now There Are Eight: Media General Joins Yahoo Newspaper Consortium

When the newspaper consortium of seven media companies announced a multi-year deal with Yahoo last month, the media execs said other newspapers are invited to join and some already are interested. Monday, Richmond-based Media General, already working with Yahoo HotJobs in Tampa, accepted the invitation and will start working with Yahoo now to move the online career sections of its 25 paper to the Yahoo HotJobs platform. That gives the consortium more than 200 papers in 40 states. The founding members are E.W. Scripps, Belo Corp., MediaNews Group, Hearst, Lee Enterprises, Cox Newspapers, and Journal Register Co. (via MKTW) The consortium should be a hot topic during the myriad Media Week presentations, including those by Media General.
Marshall Morton, president and CEO, from the release: “This new opportunity will broaden our total online audience and provide us with enhanced technology to meet the growing needs of recruitment advertisers and job seekers.”
