–Pop band Destiny’s Child are getting their own-themed game, which will feature images of and songs by the R’n’B group. Square Enix has teamed up with Sony BMG to release Destiny’s Child Groove, which is aimed at the young, casual gaming market.
–Stockholm-based mobile TV provider Kamera has signed a deal with China’s 1MP, so its two mobile channels — the celebrity-driven WOW! TV and sports service SportCall — will be sold in China by the end of the year… “Both news clip services will be available in Mandarin.”
–Artificial Life has released another arctic-themed game, Poli – The Bear. The press release describes Polar Bears as having a “cute chubby body and fluffy white fur”, and players will guide a lost cub to catch fish, hide from hunters and so on until it grows up. Of course, Polar Bears hunt just about everything else in the Arctic, and the only thing that stops Poli from eating cute little penguins is the fact that they reside in different hemispheres.
–“Wackiest Video will now pay for the wackiest, most outrageous, funniest video sent from a person’s cell phone. If your video is chosen by the Wackiest Video staff and displayed on its site, Wackiest video will send you $25 via Pay Pal.”
–TokyoPop has signed an Asia-Pac distribution deal with MovieSeer, which will “distribute a catalogue of more than 60 TokyoPop properties on mobile networks across Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, and Singapore”, including graphic images, audio and video contents, and games.
–Gemstar-TV Guide International is going mobile, signing with Roundbox to offer a mobile service which is “grid-based, time-based and channel-based with a “picture in picture” feature”. Gemstar-TV Guide senior vp digital media Rich Cusick said that though there were no deals to announce yet, the company is in talks with all the major mobile carriers.
