Mohit Anand, Country Manager (India) for Microsoft’s Entertainment & Devices Division had mentioned earlier that they intend to launch financing options. The xBox 360 is rather expensive in India at Rs. Rs.23990 for the 360 and Rs. 19900 for the 360 Core, taxes extra. In such a scenario, easy installments seem critical for enabling purchase, and MS had done just that: they’ve announced an EMI option in collaboration with ICICI Bank Credit Card, at Rs. 899 per month, though the release doesn’t elaborate on the details, or whether they’re looking at tie-ups with other banks as well. I’ll update with the details when I get them. Is this the first instance of an EMI on gaming consoles in India? ICICI Bank has a fairly large network and is among the more aggressive banks, but restricting themselves only to ICICI might be limiting.
