Reliance Launches Mobile Stock Market Gaming; TV18’s Is More Expensive

Reliance Communications has launched a stock market game called Stock Mania. Users need to download an application, and will be given a fund of Rs.10 Lakh of virtual money to trade with in realtime. The BREW application requires WAP and has been developed by Astute Systems Technology, as a part of the Reliance Developer Program. The cost? Rs.3 for each game session. No prizes mentioned, though. Now stock market games aren’t a new phenomenon. I first tried one by IndiaBulls a few years ago, and there were two or three others as well, but probably failed because they couldn’t be monetized. TV18 has their own stock market game called MoneyBhai Investor, with sponsorship from HSBC, Birla Sun Life, HDFC, Zion and Akme. It too has a mobile trading option, but is a lot more expensive with premium SMS charges. The mobile signup kept giving me an error initially, hence the initial title of this post- “TV18’s Doesn’t Seem To Be Working”. It did eventually work, but I still haven’t received a response to my SMS. In comparison to Reliance, however, there are prizes on offer.
