Nokia has announced a mobile TV trial with DVB-H technology in conjunction with India’s national broadcaster Doordashan in early 2007. “During this pilot, Doordarshan will test the reception quality of the broadcast coverage, and explore the myriad of options of supporting different service schemes, such as advertising and interactive services. The pilot will also enable Doordarshan to gauge consumer expectations of the service going forward.” Doordarshan already has a DVB-T network (which broadcasts to television sets). The backers of DMB and MediaFLO are also pushing into India, of course, and probably China as well. (press release)
