MLB’s Digital Media Arm To Develop US Figure Skating’s Interactive Properties

This is the continued morphing of MLB Advanced Media (the interactive arm Major League Baseball) into a service company providing what it has done internally to customers outside…it has tied up with U.S. Figure Skating, the national governing body for the sport of figure skating in the United States to develop the interactive media properties for it.
Ice Network is a newly formed subsidiary of U.S. Figure Skating, and MLBAM will be responsible for developing, managing, operating and maintaining the official website for it…MLBAM will oversee responsibility for online ticketing and merchandising, as well as content services and the sale of advertising and sponsorships, in conjunction with U.S. Figure Skating.
On Ice, the company plans to webcast all 2006-2007 U.S. qualifying events from the juvenile level through the adult level, with the exception of the 2007 State Farm U.S. Figure Skating Championships…it wil also launch a subscription service. Some more details in the release here.
