ESPN-Star Sports Bags English Premier League Football Rights For South Asia Till 2010

The ESPN-Star Sports combine has won the Broadcast, Internet and Mobile rights for the Barclay’s English Premier League for South Asia till 2010, reports Indiantelevision.com. It had earlier been reported that the fight for the rights had been hotting up with Nimbus Sport, Ten Sports and Zee Sports having bid for rights for the Indian Subcontinent. In direct competition with Espn-Star Sports, Malaysian broadcaster Astro had also made a pan-Asia bid. These right would have been crucial for Mobile ESPN, given the increasing popularity of football in India.
