UK’s Press Gazette Closes Down, After Rescue Deal fell Through; 41 Years in Operation

Press Gazette, the UK equivalent of Editor & Publisher magazine here, has closed its doors after 41 years in operation, after attempts to rescue weekly magazine (though buyout options and others) failed. The staff of 20, including 12 journalists, have been laid off.
An effort by an industry consortium to buy it failed this week: Two national newspaper groups, Associated Newspapers and the Telegraph Media Group, failed to get rival companies including News International and Guardian News & Media to join.
The magazine recently redesigned its online site and was attempting to make a go of it online.
