Updated: Hungama Launches Game Based On Bollywood Movie ‘Baabul'; Mauj Does The Mobile Game

Another game based on a Bollywood movie: Hungama has launched a multiplayer game based on the movie Baabul. It’s similar to the card game ‘Memory’ and is rather clever in the way it places various animated versions of the movie stars in the game itself – by hiding them behind the doors. Multiplayer games bank on competition for engaging the users, but this game seems to be more about luck than skill – I don’t think it’s addictive. I’m wondering why they haven’t made any mobile games for the movie, since that’s where the money seems to be coming from:
This article in the Financial Express quotes Rajiv Hiranandani: “Mobile gaming in India is a Rs 70 crore market today and out of that Bollywood constitutes Rs 10 crore. The Bollywood segment is expected to touch Rs 30 crore in two years.” The article also says that a Bollywood movie game is priced between Rs. 50 and Rs.150, and gets between 7,000 and 12,000 downloads; more popular movies get up to 25,000 downloads.
How much do game rights to movies cost?

Update:
Indiantelevision.com reports that Mauj Telecom has created two mobile games for the same movie, and is available via SMS and WAP. So Hungama just got the online gaming rights for Baabul.
