We were trying to confirm this for the last week, and kept hearing that some other senior exec from NBC will also join AOL…that could be turn out to be the case in the future (AdAge says NBC Universal President-Ad Sales and Marketing Keith Turner may be on the top of that leaving list), but for now, AOL has appointed a Time Warner vet Ron Grant (a former AOL executive who most recently served as senior vice president of operations for TW), has been appointed president and COO of the online service. Last week, Randy Falco came over from NBC TV and took over as CEO.
Grant has worked closely with Jeff Bewkes, the company’s president and COO, in such areas as strategy, digital initiatives and operational efficiencies, the BizJournals story says. Perhaps most importantly, Grant played a key role in putting together AOL’s new advertising-focused strategy, TW says.
