The Malaysian Government will soon be introducing a grant scheme for mobile content, according to the Minister of Energy, Water and Communications Datuk Seri Dr Lim Keng Yaik. He added that “until and unless your proposal can make the MCMC chairman fall off his chair, it is not going to get approved …. and until the chairman can get me excited about your proposal, you’re not going to get any money”. The move is part of the countries efforts to improve its ICT industry, and mobile is seen as holding it back.
“We can have all the infrastructure and services, but these will be meaningless without content,” he said, adding that the onus is on local ICT companies to produce it.”
