Some Stats On Usage Of Star Interactive’s Voice Portal

According to a release, around 70 percent of Star 7827 Voice’s usage has been from B&C cities. Of the BSNL subscribers who availed of this service, 50 percent of them called over 3 times and 25 percent called over ten times in the last two months. Expectedly, users called Star 7827 Voice for information on what happened in the shows that they missed. The power cuts must have helped. Users also showed interest in content not aired on TV, like interviews for shows like Nach Baliye. Apparently, Star 7827 Voice touched 2 million minutes in two months. The content is priced at Rs.5/min for BSNL users and Rs.6/min for Hutch and Spice users. The math – at a minimum of Rs.5/min, thats at least Rs. 1cr in revenue from subscribers in two months. How much of it are the operators keeping?
