Sify CFO Durgesh Mehta Quits; Moves to Britannia

Sify’s Chief Financial Officer Durgesh Mehta has quit. He is moving into biscuit maker Britannia as CFO. Mehta joined Sify in December 2005, and is moving out in less than a year. Prior to joining Sify, Mehta was the Finance Director of Unilever Arabia, Dubai, where he was responsible for the Finance, IT and Legal functions of the six GCC Countries, Iran and Yemen. Between 2000 and 2002, Mehta was the Financial Controller of Hindustan Lever Ltd.
Sify has seen some high-level exits in the last few months starting from R Ramaraj as CEO, Surya Mantha as Senior VP, and Ajay Nambiar, as the head of consumer channels. Ramaraj is becoming a VC, while Nambiar joined Yahoo India as content head and Mantha moved to Web18 as CEO.
After Ramaraj’s exit, the company owner Raju Vegesna took over as the CEO. It also appointed Suri Venkat as COO, a position held by George Zacharias (currently MD of Yahoo India) till he quit the Chennai-headquartered company last year.
Update: Sify has issued a release stating Mehta has left the organisation to pursue other opportunities. The company has appointed Pijush Kanti Das, President-Access Media, as officiating Chief Financial Officer. Meanwhile, the company will look for a suitable successor for the role.
