Stelios Haji-Ioannou, the man behind the “easy” brand, has cancelled the license of Danish operator TDC to run an MVNO service under the brand, dubbed “easyMobile”. He claims that after TDC was purchased by a consortium of private equity houses “ventures outside TDC’s core market were starved of funding and the management was purged…As a result, the easyGroup has decided that its brand is at risk if remains in partnership with TDC and terminated the license agreement on Friday under allegations that TDC “breached the terms of the brand licence agreement”.
By most accounts the MVNO hasn’t done very well, with doubtful results in the UK and cancelling its effort in the Netherlands. It also got into a trademark war with Orange over the use of the color as a trademark.
