If this is true, this continues the CDN industry consolidation on a frantic pace: Akamai, the Cambridge, MA.-based content delivery network is in talks to acquire the smaller San Diego-based competitor Nine Systems, reports Gigaom. The transaction price is being pegged at around $150 million, or roughly nine times revenue, the story says.
Nine specializes in rich media/video delivery and has customers such as NHL, the NBA, CBS SportsLine, CinemaNow, UMG and others.
