Hungama Mobile And Dev Benegal Get Users To Create Content For Internet And Mobile

Film maker Dev Benegal’s 24×7 Making Movies and Hungama Mobile had conducted a contest last month for aspiring film makers. The participants were given a video camera for 24 hours, in which they had to make a short film, reports The Times of India.
Hungama Mobile is keen to make that content available across multiple digital channels – the Internet, mobile phones and home video. Hungama Mobile already has 35 films and plans to expand its portfolio of content by conducting more such contests. The mobile video market is around $10 billion globally, and almost half of it is user generated content, according to a Hungama Spokesperson. [Source: Business Standard]
So how does this work? The users (or contestants) create the content, and Dev Benegal acts as the guide and the judge. Hungama Mobile and 24×7 Making Movies get user generated content that can possibly be monetized.
