Industry Moves: Heyward Joins NewsMarket Board; Hardin New Flock CEO; Flan

Following his recent stint at AOL as VP-programming for entertainment. Erik Flannigan is now SVP-digital media for Comedy Central and Spike TV, reporting to ther networks’ president Doug Herzog. In addition, he’ll oversee recently acquired Atom Films and Addicting Clips. More at B&C.

Andrew Heyward, the former president of CBS News, is joining the board of video press release distributor The NewsMarket. He currently is a senior advisor to Marketspace LLC, a strategic advisory firm that is part of the Monitor Group.

Shawn Hardin is the new president and CEO for Flock, a Firefox-based social web browser. effective immediately. Hardin left the Yahoo Media Group, where he was responsilble for the games, health and youth business, during last May’s re-org. His resume includes SVP, AOL Broadband, and EVP & GM, NBCi. Flock got a flush of attention at first but has yet to capitalize. Backers including Bessemer Venture Partners hope Hardin is the answer as Flock prepares its 1.0 version. Release.
