–Namco Networks has signed a distribution deal with Aruze to distribute the latters mobile games in the North American market. This includes arcade classics Mr. Do! and Mr. Do’s Castle. They are expected to be available in the summer of 2007. Namco already has a similar agreement with G-mode.
–Shazam has updated its music recognition service with a recommendation engine. Shazam lets people identify songs by playing them through the mobile phone and then tag them for later activity. It’s a fairly sensible thing to do — Shazam claims over 6 million people tagging songs, so all it has to do is mine that data for correlations (which it claims are in excess of 50 million correlations). Music Explorer delivers a unique association as it originates from mobile music recognition activity, which is typically paid for by consumers and represents a strong level of interest in the particular song or artist,” said Stuart Andrews, Brand Marketing Director of Shazam Entertainment.
