In-Stat has predicted that the mobile music market in the Asia-Pacific region will grow to $9.3 billion by 2010, after reaching $3.3 billion in 2005. A large amount of this growth will be in the markets of China and India, according to In-Stat, which thinks they’ll reach a critical mass of 3G services by 2007-2008. “Ringtones remain a large segment of the mobile music revenue, but as Japan and South Korea mobile music users switch to true tones as their handsets become more advanced, we will see a shift of large ringtone markets to India and China instead.”
Back in March ABI Research predicted that global revenue from mobile music would hit $9.3 billion in 2011, from $251 million in 2005.
Informa Telecoms and Media predicts global mobile music sales of $13 billion by 2011.
