More experimentation from newspaper companies hoping to hang onto readers. In the last couple days, Gannett has said it will “crowdsource” news; Gannett, Tribune, and McClatchy gave $15M to Topix.net, and now Gannett, Tribune, the New York Times Company, the Washington Post Company, and Hearst will use Google to sell some of their cheaper ads (with no fee until next year).
