San Mateo-based TalkPlus, which has plans for a mobile VoIP service, has closed its first round of funding with $5.5 million from Menlo Park-based Menlo Ventures. The press release is here. The service will also allow conference calling, and TalkPlus will enable people to have two numbers on one handset (for those people who carry a work phone and a personal phone).
