Sorry. You’ll Have To Shut Off Mobile Services During Exams And Elections

You know that quote about throwing out the baby with the bathwater? Well, I think it’s apt for this one: The Hindu Businessline reports that district authorities in Meerut, Karnal and Saharanpur have sent letters to mobile operators to shut down all mobile services for the full day when there are:
– Elections for the Chairman, councillors etc to ensure that all is free and fair
– Exams. The Haryana State Staff Selection Commission exam for selecting State Taxation Inspectors

It also seems that cellular operators don’t have a sense of humour (not that they should in such matters) – They’ve dashed off a letter to the Department of Telecommunications.
