mTLD has clocked up “218,000 .mobi registrations by customers in 104 countries around the
world”. The auction at the T.R.A.F.F.I.C. conference was also a success (from mTLD’s point of view)…”Selling for $200,000 and $100,000, flowers.mobi and fun.mobi respectively, are among the top 20 domain sales for 2006 – unprecedented for a newly introduced TLD (top level domain).”
The company has also announced the first set of names to be released under a “Request for Tender (RFT) process”, which will include news.mobi, ringtones.mobi, sports.mobi and weather.mobi.
UPDATE: Carlo Longino has pointed out that the guy who bought flowers.mobi has the same name as the “Domain King”…
