Ashes Tour Gets Mobile TV Show

A mobile video show dubbed Ashes Down Under is being developed for the English Ashes tour of Australia this year (a long-standing tradition in the sport of cricket). The show will be of 14 three-minute episodes over the course of the tour and “will allow fans to send in questions by text or video and Flintoff and Vaughan will reply to them during the series. Ex-Sky Sports presenter Mark Durden-Smith is to host the show”. Operator 3 is offering the complete series free while other operators (O2, Orange, T-Mobile) are providing the first two free and then charging 75p a pop. There’ll also be some archive footage available for 25p.
The show has been created by Player One Sports and TwoFour Mobile…the press release is here. The press release describes it as a “weekly six-minute show” which is divided into 1-2 minute segments, for those on slower connections.
“As well as the Mobishows, there will be a range of associated content including Freddie Flintoff’s Allround Cricket, a web and mobile fantasy cricket game and a range of other downloadable content such as wallpapers, ring tones and video blog.” The press release was announced a few months ago, but is being mentioned because the Champions Cup was this weekend, which is seen as a precursor to the Ashes test, which begins at the end of November (Australia won, but apparently not very convincingly).
