Three-fourth of Indiatimes‘ e-commerce business is accounted for by travel products. According to Sharat Dhall, vice-president, e-commerce, Indiatimes, about 75 per cent of the total products auctioned on the site are travel products. He also added that there had been a 100 per cent growth in the bidding transactions of travel products in the last one year, according to a report in ET.
Indiatimes auctions over 400 airtickets, 50-75 hotel rooms, and 30-40 tour packages a day, Dhall claims. Interesting statistic. Indiatimes is one of the two or three serious contenders in the Indian online travel mart. Ask any VC or travel portal exec, they would count Indiatimes up there in the travel portal list. It would be interesting to know the numbers for other portals.
