Vodafone UK is revamping its Vodafone Live! web portal for music and video downloads, and has hired Musiwave, a mobile content management company (now owned by Openwave), to improve the search facilities on the portal. The deal could increase Vodafone’s comparatively small revenue from data transmission, the story says. More when we get more…
UPDATE: Musiwave has issued a press release on this…the company will “provide Vodafone UK’s hosted music services for music video downloads as well as music and video ringtones and artist wallpapers on Vodafone live” — the various music will be sorted by artist and song rather than by categories such as ringtones, wallpaper and video. I think this is a good idea, since people are more likely to buy multiple content (ringtone, full track, wallpaper) of a band if it’s all together.
“Specialized content programming tools will enable users to access the latest content through a comprehensive mobile music portal, with songs updated daily and determined by the latest charts results and radio airplay. The Musiwave service will also remember the preferences of a returning customer and will recommend additional products that relate to the customer’s previous purchases.”
