As AOL’s India launch is nearing, the US-based $8-billion internet giant has picked up a massive office space in Bangalore. The Times of India reports that AOL has entered into an agreement with property developer RMZ Corp to take up 0.3 million sq.ft. of office space in Bangalore. The space can accommodate about 3,000 people, the report says. Apparently, AOL is looking at 0.5 million space in Bangalore.
This is most likely for expanding AOL’s back-end operations. AOL is cutting staff in the US and Europe. It employs about 19,000 people worldwide and plans to cut by a quarter. It’s most likely some of these jobs may be transferred to India then.
