UK-headquartered meaning-based computing (MBC) company Autonomy plans to enter Indian video-search market, reports The Independent. The company has had significant success with its OpenV joint venture in China, and is now looking at expanding into India.
Mike Lynch, Autonomy’s CEO, is being quoted as saying that the company’s video-searching technology can be expanded into other regions if it can find the right partners. In India, it specifically sees an opportunity since Google is yet to find its feet in the video search area. Also India offers complexity of languages which Autonomy software can tackle. Its software already powers OpenV, the largest Chinese-language video search engine.
