Microsoft, RIM Seek To Double Mobile Presence Every Year

Both Microsoft and RIM have high hopes for the smartphone market, and they’re own place in the industry. “The number of devices operating on Windows Mobile doubled to six million last year,” Peter Knook, head of Microsoft’s Mobile and Embedded Devices division, told Germany’s Euro am Sonntag in an interview published on Sunday. “We want to make 100 percent again this year and to grow further at this rate in coming years.” RIM also has about 6 million mobile users and is keen to double that every year. This would only work for a few years, of course.
