The official in charge of a 90-day last ditch attempt to salvage something from the BenQ-Siemens handset business has announced that 1,900 of the firms 3,000 workers (including 200 out of 700 research and development jobs) would be laid off in a bid to turn the manufacturer into a “handset development and design house for third-party manufacturers”.
