Latest AOL Restructuring Claims 1,300 Jobs

Some 1,300 employees will lose their jobs as 10-year-old AOL call centers in New Mexico and Arizona close, part of the restructuring announced in August when the strategy shifted to free services. AOL is trying to find $1 billion in savings and customer service jobs were known to be at risk because only paying customers have access to live support. A Utah call center is being sold. In Europe, AOL is slimming down by selling its subscriber-based operations and transferring those jobs.
