How Much Is MTNL’s IPTV Priced At?

Can we get some clarity on IPTV: how many channels will be provided, and at what cost?

– The Hindu BusinessLine says that IPTV is priced at Rs.125 for 30 free-to-air channels, “as per TRAI guidelines”. Earlier, they had quoted the price as Rs.199 per month, but that was for Mumbai.
– The Financial Express quotes Rs.250 as charges for 30 free-to-air and 30 paid channels, as well as Rs.75-125 monthly rental for set top boxes. For all the services, you’ll have to shell out Rs.905 per month. Videocalling is Rs.25 for 15 minutes and Rs.30 monthly rental. Movies will be at Rs.200 a movie, which is ridiculously expensive. A security deposit of Rs.1000
– Business Standard reports that there shall be 150 channels. The pay channels will be at Rs.5 each, and Rs.150 for the free-to-air channels. There will be a security deposit of Rs.500. Also a security deposit of Rs.1000 for the STB
– From Domain-B: The service fee is Rs250 for a quarter, and the montly content fee varies from Rs150 for all broadcast channels to Rs1,500 for value added services.

The Registration for Delhi will begin from October 25th, but MTNL customercare representatives don’t have a clue. I just called up 1500 and one said: “We don’t provide any TV services. Internet and Phone only.” Another said that they do not have authorization to talk about IPTV (another way of saying that they don’t know what IPTV is), and followed by “We give Internet by phone line.”
At the same time, MTNL’s Delhi website has no information on IPTV, and the Mumbai website mentions that pricing will be announced later.
