European VCs Upbeat About Technology Investments In India

Last week, a group of venture capital funds from the UK and continental Europe visited India-  on an investment scouting trip organised by TiE and European Tech Tour. There were more than 50 delegates from companies such as Logitech, 3i, SAP Ventures, Nokia Ventures, Advent Venture Partners and Sofinnova, and they had funds worth $8.8 billion-$12.5 billion to invest in the global technology sector, including in India.
According to a report in The Financial Times, the group was quite happy with the investment potential in India. “I’d expect a good number of investments to come out of this over the course of the next couple of years,” the paper quoted Nish Kotecha of TiE. “It could become 10 per cent [of the $10 billion] quite quickly.”
With this, we can probably see more investments from European VCs in India, which is currently dominated by American VCs.
