It’s exaggerated, of course, but the latest effort to remake the LA Times is code named “The Manhattan Project” (as in the rush to make an A bomb) and puts three of the paper’s top journalists in the role of newsroom consultants charged with reimagining the paper. The three reporters are Glenn F. Bunting, Chris Gaither and T. Christian Miller; AME Marc Duvoisin will direct the project, due to be delivered in about two months. They will scour the U.S. for ideas and possibly go abroad to London, where opinion plays a big role in news, and Norway’s Schibsted. Katherine Seeleye details to be launched today by the latest top duo at the Times: new publisher David Hiller and still-on-board editor Dean Baquet.
