There’s a widespread belief that mobile games differ from other games because the majority (generally put at around 55%) are female. However, it appears the difference may not be so great after all… this comes from a study across platforms:
“On average, gamers are 41 years of age with an average annual income of $55,000. Further, females account for 52 percent of the gaming audience. The average gamer has been online for nine years and 84 percent have broadband access at home.”
Interestingly, the number one reason given for buying the most recent mobile game was “I played it before and liked it” at 29% … which gives a very good indication of why puzzle games that have PC analogs do so well, and the brand benefit of porting games.
