Knowledge Commission To Recommend Setting Up Of Portals

Today, at an open house discussion at AIMA with Sam Pitroda, Chairman of National Knowledge Commission, Pitroda spoke on using IT for the dessimination of knowledge.
The National Knowledge Commission (NKC) intends to recommend to the government, the setting up of web portals on 10 topics: energy, environment, knowledge network, higher education, university reforms, intellectual property rights (IPR), agriculture, traditional knowledge, health information and issues related to plants, communicable disease and distance learning. The Knowlege Commission believes the sites will help increase access to knowledge, and assist development. Pitroda also added that knowledge creation involves issues relating to copyright, trademark, entrepreneurship and intellectual property rights.
So, the recommendations have been put in place. Let’s see how long it takes for the portals to come up.
