VNU is offering to acquire the minority share in NetRatings for $16 per share in cash; the company already holds 60.5 percent. The acquisition, if accepted by the NetRatings board, would make Netratings a wholly owned subsdiary of VNU. The offer represents a 10 percent premium over the Friday close but the stock is already up nearly 15 percent to $16.68 this morning on news of the offer.
