Hubert Larenaudie has joined Electronic Arts as President Online for Asia. He replaces Erick Hachenburg who had quit in September. Laurenaudie was President for Asia-Pacific at Vivendi Games, and responsible for marketing online PC games like World of Warcraft and Starcraft.
EA isn’t as dominant in Asia as it is in the US and Europe. In an interview with gamesindustry.biz, John Niermann, President of EA Publishing for Asia identified the three pillars of their strategy – online game development, mobile distribution and development, and local content development. Their strategy:
[…] is really build to buy. We have to build the expertise, we have to build that ability to make the games locally, to publish the games ourselves, to operate the games if it’s online.
